On a daily basis

A black tie can be worn every day in a casual style . If your style consists of wearing jeans, a dress shirt, and a tie, a black tie could be a perfect fit.

Consider a black tie in a narrower width for a more relaxed look. Or, tone things down with a black pattern. Black is simple enough to easily match most shirts and won't clash with patterns.

Job interview

A black tie might seem formal for a job interview . But if you're unsure of the workplace's dress code, it's better to be overdressed than underdressed for a job interview.

Soften the formality of a plain black tie with a black pattern , such as a plaid or a tasteful stripe.

Uniform attire

If you are dressing a large group or staff and must choose a single tie color, choose black . In the case of a uniform, you want your staff to look professional, but they also need to blend in.

For catering companies, black won't clash with the event's colors. And, in case of spills, black is the best for hiding stains, allowing your staff to look their best. Solid black is the most common choice for uniforms.

Pre-tied black bow ties are suitable for both men and women. If you prefer a necktie, consider a width between 7.5 and 8.5 cm. This size won't overwhelm smaller frames, but it also won't look too thin on the largest member of your staff.

Funeral

Invited to a wedding

Black Wedding Tie

If the wedding invitation mentions "black tie event", etiquette requires a plain black bow tie.

Even if the invitation doesn't specify "black tie," wearing a black tie to a wedding will ensure you're formal enough for the occasion and avoid wearing the same color as the other guests . Remember, this day is dedicated to the bride and groom, and you're not looking to be the center of attention.
