It is described by some as a “ work of art ”.
Others call it “ too much ”.
This futuristic knot is getting a lot of attention due to its unusual end result.
Whatever your opinion, this knot is a conversation starter.
The Eldredge knot is a tie knot for elegant men who don't hesitate to turn heads. And we'll show you how to do it. (Be prepared – this one takes some practice!)

The Eldredge knot was invented by Jeffrey Eldredge , a systems administrator who was tired of carrying a four-handed knot to work every day. Inspired by the Ediety knot , he began tying his tie using the tail of the knot instead of the wide end.
Sometimes it takes several tries to successfully tie this difficult knot. Practice doing this a few times before wearing it in public. Remember, this is an overly extravagant bow that should only be worn for dramatic effect.
With such a showy bow, your tie and outfit should be as plain and simple as possible.
The eye-catching effect of the knot is best highlighted with solid-colored or subtly patterned ties. Avoid using a striped tie for this knot - the stripes will make the knot look unbalanced and very busy.
Before you begin following the step-by-step instructions below, follow these preparatory steps:
1. Loop the tie around your collar, with the thick end to the right exactly where you want it to hang when the knot is finished.
2. Pinch the wide end of the tie to form a dimple and cross the thin end in front of the thick end as horizontally as possible.
3. Wrap the thin end behind the cross shape, crossing it horizontally from right to left.
4. Pass the thin end through your collar loop.
5. Slide the thin end horizontally over the thick end.
6. Pass the end of the thin end through the loop around your collar and flip it over the top of the knot, crossing it diagonally from left to right. Pull it down tightly to form a diagonal stripe along the right side of the knot.
7. Pass the thin end behind the back of the knot and up through the diagonal strip.
8. Pass through and pull tightly to create a diagonal strip on each side.
9. Point the thin end of the tie straight up, then bring it down under the loop around your collar, emerging to the right of the knot.
10. Loop the thin end of the tie up and around the circle around your collar. Leave some slack at this step.
11. Tuck the tip of the thin end down and to the left, under the loop around your neck, and up through the loop you just created.
12. Flip the thin end over the top of the loop around your collar.
13. Place the rest of the thin end out of sight, either behind the thick end or by tucking it horizontally under the loop around your neck. Tighten as necessary by pulling on the thick end and adjust each diagonal strip to approximately the same width.
The Eldredge knot is a difficult knot to tie, so don't worry if you don't get it right the first time. The result is worth it because it makes people remember you. If you can't do it, why not start with something a little easier?
